On today's episode of the Unstuck podcast we explore whether your belief systems are holding you back. Whether you don't exactly know what that bold life is that you're longing for or if you simply don't believe that you are capable of achieving it, together we are going to explore the belief systems you've established up to this point that may be keeping you stuck.
Let me ask you this... what would you do if time was abundant and money was no object? What would you be doing and who would you be doing it with?
If you have a hard time answering that question or you don't believe that it is possible, we have some work to do. How many times do we hold ourselves back because we don't think we are capable of more and we need someone to push us outside that comfort zone, outside what we think we are capable of, outside that lid we've placed on our own potential?
Our habits, belief, and perceptions are what drive us into action. This action is where we get our results. Are you ready to face your habits, beliefs, and perceptions head on to drive you into the action that will change your life?
It all starts with belief!! Belief leads to perseverance. Perseverance leads to increased skill. Increased skill leads to increased opportunities. Increased opportunities lead to success. Success leads to more belief and the cycle continues.
If you don’t have the belief that you can’t start a business and be successful, you aren’t going to be able to follow the rest of the steps to success. If you don’t believe that you can actually lose weight, you aren’t going to be able to follow the rest of the steps to success. If you don’t believe that you are capable of going back to school, you aren’t going to be able to follow the rest of the steps to success. If you don’t believe that your marriage is capable of being saved, you aren’t going to be able to follow the rest of the steps to success.
Our belief systems are the stories we tell ourselves to define our personal sense of reality. 5% of what we do comes from our conscious mind.
That means that 95% of what we do is driven by our subconscious mind. Our past has created the blueprint that guides what we do and our beliefs. In fact, by the time we are 7 years old, we have already formed many of the ideas of what we “can” and cannot accomplish. Our subconscious mind allows us to conserve energy and therefore this blueprint allows us to run on autopilot. Unfortunately that autopilot is trying to steer us only towards what is safe, familiar, and aligns with our predetermined evidence of “i can.”
Because our subconscious mind is the one driving most of the time, it is important to acknowledge that 85% of our thoughts are repetitive in nature and 90% of those are actually NEGATIVE. That’s why we find ourselves drowning in fear, doubt, and self-limiting thoughts. How does that make you feel? It may validate that there is nothing wrong with you if you are experiencing a lack of belief or an overwhelming broken record of negative self talk. These truths may also leave you feeling helpless, frustrated, or powerless.
Let me tell you something! This blueprint is not written in pen but in pencil. We can choose to rewrite the record that plays in our minds in order to build the belief that we are made for and can achieve more. It is not easy but is possible if you make the decision to try! The secret to rewriting our blueprint is to replace what is written line by line with what we choose to put in it’s place.
